Book Drop Joy

This week I had so much fun playing the book fairy and dropping in ARC copies of my novel to bookshops around Hobart.

Thank you so much to the lovely booksellers at Fullers, Dymocks, The Hobart Bookshop, Cracked and Spineless, The State Cinema Bookshop and QBD Books Eastlands for your support and enthusiasm! The work you do to encourage and inspire a love of reading and to support local authors is invaluable.

It’s still surreal to know my novel is beginning to be read by others. To know that it’s making its way into the world and my characters are coming to life in someone else’s head.

I came across a gorgeous quote on social media the other day that perfectly encapsulates the strange beauty of this:

“…when we love fictional characters, we literally fall in love with a fragment of someone’s imagination and mind…”

Isn’t that just so beautiful? I think I might have to keep it on my writing desk.

My novel will go to print in a matter of weeks and it won’t be long before I see her on bookshelves and in shops. Each step of this process has been magical, and I feel incredibly lucky to have met so many wonderful people along the way – publishers, editors, fellow authors, readers, teachers, booksellers, and many more.

How did I get so lucky? I can’t wait to see where the next few weeks and months take me.
