“Anything is possible when sorrow meets the sea…”
Our April ‘Once Upon a Bookclub’ was such a treat.
We discussed Kell Wood’s masterpiece, ‘Upon a Starlit Tide’, my love of which knows no bounds. This book has all of my favourite things – mermaids, magic, history, fae folk, pirates, tall ships, elaborate descriptions of ballgowns and masquerades… I absolutely devoured it.
I interviewed Kell a couple of month’s ago, and thought I’d share our conversation here as well as with the bookclub. She gave such insightful, articulate answers to my questions. Kell’s debut novel, ‘After the Forest’, is also brilliant. I highly recommend both.
But be warned, THERE ARE SPOILERS. So go and read the book first if you haven’t.
I’m endlessly grateful that I get to have these fascinating conversations with authors, and share them with wonderful people who love reading as much as I do.
‘A new, and very old, darkness was waking within Luce. An instinct born of hunger that had nothing to do with her tail. A song as old as the sea, promising rapture and ruin.’
