I feel extraordinarily lucky, and proud, to have a piece of writing in Voices of the Southern Ocean – a Nipaluna/Hobart anthology.
This is a very special project, brought together by a wonderful group of passionate, talented people. It was launched on the 31st October at the Town Hall, where the Lord Mayor Anna Reynolds and Dr. Lucy Christopher unveiled the anthology.

The evening fell on the first anniversary of Hobart becoming a UNESCO City of Literature, and celebrated the anthology as the first initiative under this designation.
The book features 50 writers from across Hobart and beyond, and I still pinch myself when I think about all the incredible writers whose company I have the honour of keeping within this collection.
Every single piece in this anthology is exceptional, and each one, in a rich variety of styles and forms, speaks to the the beauty and power of the Southern Ocean, and how we must fight for her, and ensure the world knows how vital she is for our climate’s stability, and the future of our planet.

I was thrilled to have the opportunity to read my piece at the launch, a micro-fiction about a sealskin, and a child navigating her grief. You can read all the wonderful pieces, and learn more about Hobart’s UNESCO designation and the plans for future projects here – https://www.hobartcity.com.au/…/Voices-of-the-Southern….
Thank you to all the brilliant organisers for making this special event so joyous.
