Book lovers unite!

I am a terrible blogger and hardly ever post, so I thought I would try something short and sweet and see if that might coax me into starting a more regular habit. We shall see. But what better what to start than with an ode to reading.

Reading is my oldest and purest love. There is nothing that brings me greater joy, comfort, relief, wonder or inspiration than curling up with a good book. I’ve just bought a cute new bookshelf which has solved the situation on my bedroom floor that was getting out of hand…

Also, apparently that glorious smell old books have is called bibliosmia. I wonder what the new book smell is? Both are heady and wonderful If you ever feel the spontaneous urge to buy/borrow a book you’ve just seen and never heard of before, if you’re browsing and feel the uncanny sense that you just need this particular book, trust it! I’m a firm believer that books will find their way into your hands when you need them most, and my gut feeling when it comes to book collecting has never let me down. So keep growing your libraries folks, keep supporting authors and bookshops and the power of the written word.

Consider this post your permission slip to go and get that book you’ve been daydreaming about, or just head off for a browse and let the shelves work their magic… you deserve it!
